Day trip to Brazos Bend Texas State Park 3/27/2004

A short day trip with several photographers from the Texas Nature Photographers group. As always, my experiences with these photographers means a good time, conversation and sharing of knowledge. This was my first weekend visit to the park and it does get crowded. If you have the opportunity to visit during the week take it.

7067w.jpg (90795 bytes)   The Bull Frog  an Amphibian  also enjoying a little sunlight.

6892w.jpg (82655 bytes) This Turtle wanted nothing to do with having it's picture taken.

Each time I startled this Dragon fly he flew off only to return in seconds to the same perch. This allowed me to setup the camera for a close-up and pre-focus on the spot.

Alligators, the largest reptiles,  were as always plentiful. Getting eye level  makes for a more dramatic looking image to me.

Height change of about six feet. I did move over 10 feet or so to get the higher position.

Many of the smaller Reptiles were out hunting or sunning as well. The lizards and skinks seem much more wary than the larger alligators.

7035w.jpg (86320 bytes) This bumble bee posed for sometime for pictures.

Some of the parks permanent avian residents were easy to be seen. These two are  the Common Moorhen and the Black-bellied Whistling-Duck.

6970w.jpg (66970 bytes) Just like everywhere across Texas the wildflowers are making their appearance.
