Captions on these images are at the bottom of this page. Colorado: Aspen grove in southwest Colorado not far off a forest access road near Owl Creek Pass just out of Ridgeway. Shot with 35mm slide film on one of those clear light blue-sky days so I was looking for compositions to eliminate the sky. Fauna: A ten point Texas Whitetail deer shot in southern Texas. Shot with35mm slide film, tripod, and 200mm lens. The early morning light worked great as he stepped out of a clearing giving me a great chance to get the shot. This is the second of the series the first got his attention and this caught his look before bolting away. Flora: A cactus pad in Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Shot with 35mm slide film, tripod, and a 100mm macro lens. Texas: The Texas state capital in Austin. shot on a family trip to the capital. New Mexico: White Sands National Monument is a great place to photograph. The White Sands are a constantly changing landscape giving up new challenges with each visit. I was lucky to catch the storm clouds coming in providing me with terrific light for this shot. Shot on 35mm slide film and a 200mm lens. People: These are re-enactors in the Goliad Massacre playing the Mexican soldiers part. This is an annual event in Goliad Texas as a remembrance for the battle for Texas Independence. Shot on 35mm slide film and a 28-105mm zoom lens. I seldom choose my zoom lens but when shooting at events like this it allows me to compose without moving. Scenic: Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Texas was the location for this shot. A storm front was coming in allowing me to use the bright light to silhouette the trees. Shot with 35mm slide film camera on tripod, and bracketing to get the light effect I was looking for. Sports: This is from a National Endurance race Texas World Speedway just outside College-Station Texas. Motorcycle road racing is a great way to work on nature techniques while selling a few along the way. The speed in which these people go is awesome up close and really tests your focusing and panning skills to the most. Shot on 35mm slide film 300mm lens on monopod. I found that locking exposure helps in getting good exposure during the racing. Check regularly for lighting changes. Medium Format: This image was taken at Cottonwoods campground in Big Bend National Park. Image taken with my Mamiya RB67. Digital: An altered in Photoshop image of the American Flag, which is proudly displayed at my home. This is the first image taken with my Canon D10.
